How does Weight Balance Therapy work?
Jin Shin Jyutsu® is included to help balance meridians that support digestion, overall strength, vitality & weight balance. Meridians are specific pathways for Chi circulation within the body. Basic manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) steps are included to stimulate movement of lymph in the cisterna chyli, thoracic duct, right lymphatic duct & axillary lymph nodes. Insuficient exercise, stress, fatigue, post surgical scar tissue or emotional trauma can slow down lymph movement. The most obvious benefit of MLD is reduction of lymphedema. This translates into reducing water weight for those working toward weightloss goals. MLD is a very beneficial technique for new mothers who wish to lose water-weight after the baby arrives. This technique is also a great support for the immune system. Stimulating the lymphatic system can improve metabolism, tissue regeneration & speed the exit of post exercise waste materials thus reducing muscle soreness. It is a slow, very gentle & relaxing technique.
Who should avoid lymphatic massage?People with an acute infection & fever, inflammation or edema of an unknown origin, cardiac problems such as congestive heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, & cardiac insufficiency, venous obstructions such as phlebitis or thrombosis, weeping sores, cancer, lymphomas, kidney or liver dysfunction should avoid lymphatic drainage massage without written approval form a physician.
Abdominal myofascial release work is gentle, slow massage work to stretch connective tissue, viscera & muscles. This process helps enhance digestion, helps relieve constipation, helps reduce acid reflux, reduce peritoneal adhesions, redistribute a bunched up greater omentum to change the shape of a lower belly "pooch", support the immune system, & reduce lower back pain related to mesentery adhesions. The mesentery attaches to anterior surface of L3. Seven layers of abdominal tissue are gradually accessed in successive sessions. Skin can be fragile inside fatty folds where little air circulates. Therefore, it is recommended that those with such folds use coconut oil on these areas for a couple of days before receiving abdominal massage.
Abdominal massage is not recommended if you are pregnant or if you have had gastric by pass surgery less than 2 months ago, have a hernia or hernia repair surgery less than 3 months ago, have an infection, have diarrhea, have ulcers or ulcerative colitis, have an abdominal aortic aneurysm, have peritonitis, have appendicitis, have cirrhosis of the liver, jaundice or hepatitis, have Crohn's disease, have diverticulitis or diverticulosis, have gallstones, have gastritis or gastroenteritis, have (GERD) gastroesophageal reflux disease, have irritable bowel syndrome (spastic colon), have pancreatitis, have polyps of the colon or uterus.
